It’s About That Time

Friday, June 29th, 2007

Wow, has it been that long? I know, I missed you guys too. So what have we been up to? Tons. Believe me its a blur but I am certain we visited some amazing cities among them Long Beach, Chicago, Atlanta, and we have one more tradeshow to go before things settle down around the Chocolate Factory. After the Summer Fancy Food show coming up next weekend, the Oral Fixation Team starts its vacation schedule woohoo! Henry just returned from a week overseas and a relaxing stay in Greece. I am off to Rome in about 2 weeks and I always pack at least a few tins of Mojito and Fab Fruit so I have the best stories when I get back to the Chocolate Factory. Where are you and your Oral Fixation Mints heading to this summer? Send us your vacation photos and mint stories and we’ll be sure to feature our top picks in an upcoming blog, winners score some free mints! Write to us.

Speaking of stories, Henry and Eric went to a special screening of Rescue Dawn presented by GENART last night. The guys gave the film rave reviews but their after parties plans were dashed by the torrential downpour that hit the tri-state area :( No worries, Henry and I totally got our GENART fix last week at SHOPNYC. It was this amazingly overwhelming showcase of young fashion and accessory designers set to great music and yummy Insomnia cookies. Henry and I definitely got our shop on as we both left with our arms full of goodies. Who can say no to totally unique ties and summer dresses? The best part, the Mimosa Mints in the gift bags! Interested in becoming a member, go here you won’t regret it. GENART is your ticket in to all the latest in Film, Music, Art and Fashion.

Do I classify this as a rant? There is still so much to blog about! But, I guess now technically we are all caught up. Time sure did fly. Are you craving a bigger helping of Oral Fix News? Then you need to sign up for our BlackBook newsletters out each month, here. We have so much going you don’t want to miss a thing! Enoy the tradeshow candids below. We’ve been working hard, promise. Oh, and don’t forget to have fun in all the summer sunshine for this upcoming 4th of July holiday. I have a special post up my sleeve just for the occassion!

xoxo

Love is Real.

Wednesday, February 7th, 2007

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and Oral Fix aficionados in the New York metro area better watch out for cupid’s arrow at the Human Rights Gala on February 10th! Why? Well, Oral Fixation’s Fabulous Fruit will be making a dazzling appearance at the event for starters, and what better way to celebrate the love-ly holiday than supporting everyone’s right to love and be loved? Among the speakers for the evening are: New York senator Hilary Clinton, director Ang Lee, actresses Rosie O’Donnell and Anne Hathaway, actors Alan Cummings and Nathan Lane, and designer Kenneth Cole just to name a few. We are proud to support such a noteworthy cause and the nation’s largest civil rights organization. Our delicious Fabulous Fruit mints (engraved with a heart) will be featured in the gift bags for the event. Plus, photos of the black tie gala which is being held at the über posh Waldorf-Astoria, will be posted on Daily Fix after the event so be sure to check back! What are we loving? The Heatherette tees designed exclusively for the Human Rights Campaign with the words ‘Love is Real’, shop here.

But don’t worry if you can’t make it to the event, or even get a cool new tee, there’s always Oral Fixation Mints to show you care! Try our Fabulous Fruit for your sweetheart, or even 7 deadly cinnamon for a spicy secret admirer…its all up to you! XOXO peace and love from the Chocolate Factory.

Tradeshow Season Has Begun

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Oral Fixation’s tradeshow season is well underway and we couldn’t be busier! Our sparkling Sales VP Laure just got back from a 3-day fancy food gig in San Francisco at the Moscone Center, while Eric our dynamo Chief Exec of Operations and myself (Delpha, the newly acquired Marketing Coordinator) are gearing up for a 5-day gift industry show in the Big Apple. Yet, none of this bi-coastal travel can match our president Henry’s trip to Germany for an international tradeshow in Cologne! Honestly, we can’t complain. Despite the whirlwind atmosphere we love these events because we get to meet new people and spread the Oral Fixation mission of making everyday objects beautiful. And for all you OF mint junkies out there, its just going to get easier and easier for you to get your fix!

Stay tuned for the unveiling our our new BLACKBOOK monthly newsletter and major website updates!!!

A little Art, anyone?

Thursday, October 13th, 2005

We are proud to announce the opening of the Oral Fixation Gallery. This project has been in the works for over a year now, and we have finally pulled together the work of five amazing artists from all over the world, to constitute our inaugural exhibit. The artists are:

Vladimir Dubko, Belarus
A series of astonishingly original illustrations, inspired by the worlds of pop culture and fashion

Steen Brogaard, Denmark
Photographs from a Nokia cameraphone, full of warmth and texture, reminiscent of old LOMO images

Juan Ospina, Colombia
Hand-drawn illustrations providing social commentary on the politics and corruption rampant in contemporary Colombia

Conrado Almada, Brazil
A series of pages from Almada’s sketchbooks, consisting of wildly imaginative drawings and illustrations inspired by Almada’s two years living in Italy

Joon Powell, USA
A series of photographs and written vignettes of Tennesseeans who recently lost their healthcare coverage.

As you will see, this collection of work is diverse and startling for its candor, originality, and craft. We hope you enjoy seeing this work as much as we enjoyed collecting it.

As we have built Oral Fixation Mints over the past 2+ years, art and design have always played a seminal role. Henry and Eric compose amazing music with Rich & Royal, I (Jon) make interactive artworks over at Number 27, and all of our products are heavily influenced by the principles of art and design, namely an eye to detail, and an obsessively perfectionist approach to product development. The gallery is our way of giving back to the global community of talented young artists who inspire us to keep making beautiful products.

This is an exciting day for Oral Fixation, and we hope it will be the start of a great tradition! Here’s to art!

Oralfix in LiquidTreat!

Friday, June 10th, 2005

LiquidTreat
Oral Fixation was featured in today’s LiquidTreat, a very cool weekly newsletter sent out to design afficionados around the country. Our mints made the cut as this week’s Magic Potion>

Move over Altoids—there’s a new cool mint in town. Three fresh-breathed friends in Hopewell, N.J. are introducing a delicious and decorative line of sugar-free mints including Mojito Mint (a lime mint cocktail flavor, engraved with a Cuban star), and Night Light (caffeinated Chai mint emblazed with the word ON), to name two. All six flavors come in collectible brushed metal tins and custom-designed wax paper. A super-treat sampler, The Oral Fixation 6-pack, is available for $15.

Thanks, LiquidTreat!

Oralfix at the Webbys

Thursday, June 9th, 2005

On Monday night Oral Fixation Mints made a special appearance at the very swanky 2005 Webby Awards at NYC’s Gotham Hall. Our mints made it into the hands of all 700 guests, including former vice-President Al Gore and Craig from Craigslist. The evening’s decor was positively crimson, so 7 Deadly Cinnamon was the flavor of choice, in its tell-tale red tin, placed on every table.

I was honored to receive a couple of awards, for 10×10 and WordCount, which was, to my surprise, the very first award of the evening. Webby acceptance speeches are strictly limited to 5 words, so mine were “I’d just like to say” (WordCount), and “A picture’s worth 100 words” (10×10). Other speech highlights were Al Gore’s “Please don’t recount this vote”, Lonely Planet’s “Love your country. Leave it.”, and British Vogue’s “Do you like my dress?”. For a good piece on the Webbys, here’s a New York Times article on the event. And now, some photos!

Boing Boing!

BoingBoing!

We were psyched to hear that our favorite blog, Chandrasutra), who calls Oral Fixation the Boing Boing post:

Oral Fixation mints are cleverly packaged mints with clever names (Sugar Free Tibet, Mojito Mint, etc). Never tried ‘em and who knows but they may taste like hell, but they sure make a pretty picture.
