The ritual of receiving an Oral Fixation by mail

Thursday, June 23rd, 2005

SFT Up CloseThis British dude ordered some 6Packs from us, and when they arrived, he chronicled the ritual of opening the box and unwrapping the tins, moment by breathtaking moment, with a lovely set of captioned photos, which he then posted on his Flickr site (we love Flickr!). You, too, can share in the same momentous experience as this man, if you order some mints of your own. Come on, you know you want to. Plus, when was the last time you received a package? Packages are fun! Give yourself a treat!

Makin’ it in the Nerve Scanner

Nerve

Oral Fixation made an appearance in this week’s very sexy Nerve Scanner, just above the picture of a translucent pink vibrator shaped like a woman. What an honor!

Back in college, we had a friend with a single pick-up technique: flicking open a slim 1920s cigarette case and offering you a smoke. (Curiously, this seemed to work best on non-smokers.) Now that smoking is banned in New York bars, we hope he has discovered Oral Fixation mints, with their similarly sexy cases and their self-conscious resemblance to narcotics. In any case, several dozen tins were shipped to our office last week and our desk has smelled like “Seven Deadly Cinnamon” ever since.

Oralfix in LiquidTreat!

LiquidTreat
Oral Fixation was featured in today’s LiquidTreat, a very cool weekly newsletter sent out to design afficionados around the country. Our mints made the cut as this week’s Magic Potion>

Move over Altoids—there’s a new cool mint in town. Three fresh-breathed friends in Hopewell, N.J. are introducing a delicious and decorative line of sugar-free mints including Mojito Mint (a lime mint cocktail flavor, engraved with a Cuban star), and Night Light (caffeinated Chai mint emblazed with the word ON), to name two. All six flavors come in collectible brushed metal tins and custom-designed wax paper. A super-treat sampler, The Oral Fixation 6-pack, is available for $15.

Thanks, LiquidTreat!

Oralfix at the Webbys

Thursday, June 9th, 2005

On Monday night Oral Fixation Mints made a special appearance at the very swanky 2005 Webby Awards at NYC’s Gotham Hall. Our mints made it into the hands of all 700 guests, including former vice-President Al Gore and Craig from Craigslist. The evening’s decor was positively crimson, so 7 Deadly Cinnamon was the flavor of choice, in its tell-tale red tin, placed on every table.

I was honored to receive a couple of awards, for 10×10 and WordCount, which was, to my surprise, the very first award of the evening. Webby acceptance speeches are strictly limited to 5 words, so mine were “I’d just like to say” (WordCount), and “A picture’s worth 100 words” (10×10). Other speech highlights were Al Gore’s “Please don’t recount this vote”, Lonely Planet’s “Love your country. Leave it.”, and British Vogue’s “Do you like my dress?”. For a good piece on the Webbys, here’s a New York Times article on the event. And now, some photos!
